Effective Date: August 13, 2026
These Terms cover what you can expect from Margati and what we expect from you. The section on academic integrity is the one we most want you to actually read.
By accessing or using Margati, you agree to these Terms. If you use Margati on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have the authority to bind that organization. Your continued use of Margati after any updates to these Terms constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms. Please check this page periodically for changes.
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account or use Margati, and you must meet the minimum age required by the laws of your country. If you are under 18, you may use Margati only with permission from your parent or legal guardian. Margati is not directed to children under 13, and children under 13 may not create accounts or use logged-in Margati services. By creating an account, you represent that you meet the applicable age requirement. We may suspend or delete an account if we learn that the user does not meet the applicable age requirement.
Margati may restrict access, require additional steps, or apply a higher minimum age in certain countries where required by law. For example, Margati may require users in India to be 18 or older unless and until a legally compliant parental-consent process is available, and may require users in the EU/EEA to be 16 or older where local law requires. The minimum age that applies to you is the higher of 13 and the minimum age set by the laws of your country.
Margati is a study workspace. It breaks assignments into individual questions, gives you a place to write, sketch and work through them, explains the concepts underneath, and gives feedback on what you have written. Margati is a study aid. It is not a tutor, not an examiner, and not a substitute for your own understanding or your instructor's guidance.
This matters more here than anywhere else in these Terms. You are responsible for following your school's academic integrity policy. Those rules vary widely: some instructors permit AI study tools freely, some permit them with disclosure, and some prohibit them entirely for particular work. Knowing which applies to you is your responsibility, not ours. You agree not to use Margati to: - Submit AI-generated text as your own original work where your institution prohibits it. - Complete an exam, test, or assessment you have been told to complete unaided. - Do someone else's work for them, or have someone else do yours. Margati's integrity receipts record how a piece of work was produced, so you can show your process if you are ever asked. They are a tool for demonstrating honest work, not a defence against a policy you have broken. We may suspend accounts used to facilitate academic misconduct at scale.
Margati uses AI models to decode assignments, explain concepts, and give feedback on your answers. AI output can be wrong. It can be confidently wrong. It can misread a question, invent a citation, or make an arithmetic mistake. Verify anything that matters before you rely on it, and treat explanations as a starting point for your own understanding rather than a final answer. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or suitability of any AI-generated output, and we are not responsible for grades, assessments, or academic outcomes that result from relying on it.
You are responsible for what happens under your account. Keep your password private, and tell us at contact@margati.com if you believe someone else has access to it. Give us accurate information when you sign up, and keep it current. You may not share your account, sell it, or let someone else use it to submit work as though it were their own.
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, and revocable license to use Margati for personal or internal business purposes, in accordance with these Terms. You may not: - Reproduce, distribute, sell, lease, or reverse-engineer any part of the platform. - Use Margati for any unlawful, harmful, or unauthorized purposes.
You keep ownership of everything you put into Margati, including your uploads, answers, notes, and sketches. You grant us a limited licence to store, process, transmit and display that content strictly to provide the service to you: syncing it across your devices, generating your study materials, and showing it back to you. This licence exists so the product can function, and it ends when you delete the content or your account. We may use de-identified, aggregated information about how Margati is used to improve the product. That means patterns across many students, never your work presented as itself. We do not sell your work, and we do not license your work to third parties to train their foundation models.
You agree not to: - Upload content that is unlawful, infringing, or that you have no right to share. - Upload malware, or attempt to breach, overload, or probe our systems. - Reverse-engineer, scrape, or attempt to extract our models, prompts, or underlying technology. - Resell or redistribute Margati or its output as a competing service. - Impersonate anyone, or misrepresent your affiliation with a school or organisation. - Use Margati to harass, abuse, or harm another person. We may suspend or terminate access for serious or repeated breaches.
Paid Margati plans are purchased and managed only on the Margati website. The Margati mobile apps do not offer purchases of any kind. If you buy a paid plan on the website: - Your subscription renews automatically for the same period until you cancel. - You can cancel at any time from your account settings on the website. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and you keep access until then. - We do not provide refunds for partial periods except where required by law or where we choose to at our discretion. - We may change plan pricing or contents on notice. Changes apply from your next billing period, and you may cancel before they take effect if you do not accept them. - If a payment fails, we may suspend paid features until it is resolved. - Taxes are added where applicable. Card details are handled by our payment processor. Signing in to the mobile apps with an account that already has a paid plan gives you access to what that plan includes. Nothing is sold, unlocked, or charged inside the apps.
Where a school, district, or institution provisions Margati for its students, a separate written agreement with that institution governs the relationship, and it prevails over these Terms where the two conflict. In that arrangement the institution controls its students' records, decides what is provisioned, and is responsible for any consents required in its jurisdiction.
Margati integrates services you may choose to use, including Google Classroom (read-only access to your courses, your own coursework, and Drive files attached to that coursework), Sign in with Google and Sign in with Apple, and the AI providers, cloud hosting, payment processing, push delivery and crash reporting we use to run the service. These operate under their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for their availability or performance. You can disconnect an optional integration at any time.
You can delete your account yourself, at any time: - Mobile app: Profile → Account → Delete my account. - Website: Profile → Danger Zone → Delete account. Deletion is permanent. It erases your assignments, answers, notes, sketches, receipts, streak history, and mastery records. We will ask you to type DELETE to confirm. If you have a paid plan, cancel it on the website before deleting your account, or you may be charged for a period you cannot use. See our Privacy Policy for exactly what deletion erases and what may briefly persist in backups.
Margati is provided "as is" and "as available." We do not guarantee that the platform will be error-free or continuously available. Use of the platform is at your own risk. We aim for reliability but do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. Keep your own copies of work that is critical to you.
To the fullest extent permitted by law: - Margati is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of data, business interruption, or academic outcomes. - Any claims must be reported within 30 days of occurrence. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
All rights, title, and interest in the Margati platform, including software, branding, trademarks, and design, are owned by Margati Inc. Content generated by Margati is for your personal or internal business use only and may not be resold, redistributed, or used to build competing services.
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Margati and its affiliates, officers, and employees from any claims, losses, liabilities, or legal fees arising from: - Your use or misuse of the platform. - Violation of these Terms. - Infringement of intellectual property or rights of others.
We may modify these Terms at any time. If changes are material, we'll provide reasonable notice. Continued use after updates means you accept the new terms. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access at our discretion, especially in cases of abuse, violations of these Terms, or actions that compromise the platform's integrity. Where circumstances reasonably allow it, we will give you notice and a chance to export your work first.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict of laws principles. Any disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in California. You consent to the personal jurisdiction of these courts. If you are a consumer in a jurisdiction whose law grants you the right to bring proceedings locally, or affords you protections that cannot be contractually overridden, nothing here removes those rights.
Margati is currently offered as a beta product and is under active development. Features may change, break, or be removed at any time without notice. We do not guarantee any particular output, and you should not rely on Margati for mission-critical decisions during this beta phase. Feedback and usage during this phase may be used to improve the product.
Nothing in these Terms grants you ownership or license to use Margati's underlying technology, algorithms, or models beyond the limited usage rights provided above. You may not copy, extract, or reverse-engineer any part of the platform, including its prompts, responses, interface designs, or recommendation logic.
These terms apply if you obtained the Margati app from the Apple App Store: - These Terms are between you and Margati only, not Apple. Margati alone is responsible for the app and its content. - Apple has no obligation to provide any maintenance or support for the app. - If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price, if any. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation with respect to the app. - Margati, not Apple, is responsible for addressing any claim relating to the app, including product liability claims, claims that the app fails to conform to a legal or regulatory requirement, and claims arising under consumer protection or similar legislation. - Margati, not Apple, is responsible for investigating and resolving any third-party claim that the app infringes that party's intellectual property rights. - You confirm you are not located in a country subject to a US Government embargo or designated as terrorist-supporting, and that you are not on any US Government list of prohibited or restricted parties. - Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
